AMANDA THE ADVENTURER: Revisit an Old TV Show From an Time where Everything Was Simpler

Amanda the Adventurer is a short indie game that was produced by jpgamedesign and published on April 8th of this year, for the DreadXP Found Footage game jam, on the itch.io platform. In the game, you find, in the attic of your house, three VHS tapes containing three episodes of a show you used to watch as a child, entitled "Amanda the Adventurer". You don't exactly remember the episodes or the characters, let alone what happens on the show. Being taken by curiosity, you decide to watch them and remember a time when everything was simpler...

There's not much to say about this very short game. All the action happens at specific times here: what we have is basically something similar to the FMV games that existed on consoles in the 90s, like the Sega CD and even the PC. You have Amanda and Wooly the sheep talking about a specific topic, and then you have the same question to the viewer about that topic, as you answer using both the mouse and the keyboard.

It is worth remembering that, although the content of the game has a children's style, typical of programs of the genre, at no time is it recommended for children under 10 years old, precisely because it is a game created for a gamejam of a community known for the theme of horror. UPDATE (30/04/2022): The game received an update recently. The only difference here from the original version is just an addition of an extra tape, which gives a little more detail about Woolie's disappearance and which apparently can be found if you answer wrong every time until the end of the second one. tape. Apparently, gamedev intends to further enhance the story through features like this, which is a great sign.
