BEYOND THE PHONE SCREEN: A Survival Game Inspired by Pokémon GO, but in a Ghost Town
Updated: Sep 7, 2021
Beyond the Phone Screen is an indie survival game with horror touches, produced by davidrodmad and published on September 5th of that year, on the indie gaming platform "itch.io". In the game, you find yourself in Shivers City, a city made popular by a Geolocation-based Augmented Reality game called Civilian GO! Once there, you arrange with your friend to meet in the parking lot of a hamburger shop, but when you get there, you discover that not only is the place closed, but the parking lot is empty. Now it's up to you to discover your friend's whereabouts and investigate more about the city.
In terms of graphics, the game has a Low-Poly aesthetic that is very much inspired by PSX games. As for the gameplay, it's very typical of many horror games, but there's something else here: you have another gameplay, which takes place inside the smartphone, there you can fulfill various objectives, including even using it to defeat some monsters that appear over time.
Beyond the Phone Screen has a great replay factor, having 4 endings that can occur depending on your game performance. Check out the gameplay of the game by clicking on these links below and, if you are interested, download the game on the page below:
