HARMFUL: Investigate the Contents of a VHS Tape Found in the Forest in this Horror Game
Harmful is a first-person indie adventure and horror game produced by ToothandClaw and published on April 13, 2020, and updated on August 28 of the same year, on the indie gaming platform "itch.io". The game does not have a defined plot: You found a VHS tape in a mysterious forest. Much of the video is either damaged or erased, but the little there is to understand that whoever was filming is looking for a missing person in the forest, until they discover something terrible, generating a fierce struggle for survival.
The game features a retro-influenced look, such as VHS found-footage style and low poly graphics similar to games released for the PSX, Sony's 32-bit console. The gameplay is simple and more focused on presenting a narrative rather than creating action. You will guide the character of the video through several points until the tape skips to other scenes, setting up the narrative.
