JIMMY'S HALLOWEEN: A Retro PSX Horror Game About Two Brothers and a Lurking Serial Killer
Jimmy's Halloween is a first-person horror game being produced by Spring Rabbit and which has a demo version, titled "Lost Tape", published on January 17th of this year, on the itch.io platform. In Jimmy's Halloween, you control Jimmy, a little boy who wants to go out to a Halloween party, and he learned from his mother that the costume is ready, but it's in the basement, and Jeffrey, his older brother, has the key there. In parallel with this, the news is warning about a serial killer who is breaking into homes, killing people and signing his crimes with pentagrams.
There's not much to say about this game here: it presents visuals very much in the same style as PSX games, but with an 80's vibe, based on slasher movies and found footages. He certainly took a lot of inspiration from the folks at Puppet Combo, who are prominent in this style, featuring games like Bloodwash (this one produced by an offshoot of the group, Torture Star), Scary Tales, The Glass Staircase, and others. Anyone who's played one of these games won't have much of a problem with Jimmy's Halloween. The gameplay is also very much inspired by these other games, presenting a more simulation style, that is, you have an area to explore and you need to find items that help you unlock another area.
Recommended for those who are a fan of this style of game that emphasizes the retro a lot. Check out the gameplay and, if interested, download the demo. Just click on the respective links below.
