LABYRINTH DECK: Set Your Steps by Using Cards in a Magical Maze in this Puzzle Game

Labyrinth Deck is an indie puzzle game being produced by nbmach1ne and which has a prototype version published on September 14th this year, on the indie gaming platform "itch.io". In Labyrinth Deck, you control a girl named Dalia, who finds herself trapped in a maze in the dream world. To awaken from this dream, she needs to find her way out, and each step is taken through sets of 3 cards. Choose one of the 3 cards and you will be guided in the chosen direction, but be careful, there are guardians that are waiting to attack you.

This prototype was made for the Game Jam "A Game By Its Cover", which is being held this year. For those who don't know, I'll explain: Ludonaut, the person behind the Game Jam, created a series of fictional Famicom (NES in the West) cartridge cases, and the idea of the game jam he's doing is this: creating projects for games based on the art of these cases. The prototype is still raw, with a single maze, and no soundtrack, but according to the game dev, the game is being worked on, with the intention of adding the soundtrack and more mazes. According to him, there is the possibility of being updated in the coming days.

Going to the technical aspects, starting with the visuals, the game is really cute. The graphics are very well done, highlighting the characters, which appealed to a cel-shading look, giving that magical girl anime vibe. As for gameplay, there is no secret here: you just use the mouse to choose a card out of 3. The cards vary in number of steps and we even have an effect card, which makes a guardian inactive for a round. The challenge level is well balanced, where the chance of victory or defeat only depends on your choices. A wrong decision becomes game over and then you have to start all over again.

Without a doubt Labyrinth Deck is a puzzle game worth checking out. We hope that the creator of the game can bring us an extremely fun and much more elaborate game as updates come out.
