Future Knight is a fun 2D run-and-gun game developed by Studio Koba and Aeternum Game Studios. You play as a robot controlled by a strange creature, facing off against a dangerous cult on the streets of a retro-futuristic Tokyo—all while enjoying visuals reminiscent of classic Tiger Electronics LCD handhelds.
The game’s visuals aim to emulate the old-school aesthetic of simpler titles, yet here they lend an innovative feel to the 2D genre. The gameplay follows modern 2D conventions and even incorporates light Metroidvania elements within the levels. Furthermore, the boss fights strongly recall games like Cuphead, both in terms of the battle mechanics and the boss animations.
