HOKI: THE RONIN RIDER: An Action Game where You Embark on a Journey to Find Fuel for Your Motorbike

Hoki: The Ronin Rider is a third-person indie action-adventure platformer being produced by Edgar Sicilia and Roberto Cano. The game is still in the development stage and there is no release date, however a prototype version was published on January 26th of this year, on the itch.io platform. In the game you control a Ronin that wanders through a desert, in an apparently post-apocalyptic world, after running out of fuel on his motorbike. Your goal is to find enough fuel for your motorbike, and then get on with your journey, even if you have to do some favors for some people.

Hoki is a game that draws heavily from the nostalgic source that was the adventure games of the 80s and 90s, and has a huge focus on the sense of humour, ingenuity and authenticity provided by these games. The influences are huge, ranging from Day of Tentacle and Full Throttle to Prince of Persia. The visual aspect is excellent, with everything done by hand. The gameplay mixes an arcade-inspired style, with only two buttons (one for jumping and one for attack), and the dialogues with several alternatives that lead to different responses, typical of adventure games.

Undoubtedly, it is a game that has great potential, as it pays homage to the classics of the point-and-click genre, but adds its own flavor. It remains to wait for the full version, it will certainly be an excellent game.
