ROOTS BLOODY ROOTS: Face the Last of a Race of Vengeful Spirits in this Multidimensional Horror Game

Roots Bloody Roots is a short indie third-person action game with a twist of horror that was produced by Martin Hallgren, Sebastian Engstrand, Frances Ren, Helge A and Hugo Svedstam and published on April 14th of this year, being available on the itch.io platform. In Roots Bloody Roots you control Cahya, a spirit hunter trained by her father, Darma, who investigates an old abandoned museum after discovering that a spirit, known as Bujo Ito, was sheltering there. To be able to face him, you must first find a very powerful spiritual artifact, which allows you to transit between the physical and spiritual world, and thus defeat the last Buji Ito.

According to the game's itch.io page, Roots Bloody Roots was produced by a team of nine students at Futuregames in Stockholm, Sweden, over a six-week period. In terms of graphics, the game is very well produced, from characters to items and setting. The photograph (if we can call it that in a game) is quite interesting, and features three colors, each corresponding to the spirit's presence in that museum, as well as differentiating its world from the spirit world. The gameplay is quite simple, but functional for a short game. You can run, jump, shoot, dodge, and especially, use the mask to identify your opponent and items hidden in this dimension, in addition to having to be careful when using the mask, as its power works at the cost of its own energy.
