SALARYMAN SHI: A Super Mario Bros. Inspired Game about Enemies, Obstacles, Delay and Work Routine

Salaryman Shi is an indie action-adventure platformer being produced by Cliax Games and still in the development stage, with its release scheduled for sometime this year. Despite this, we had a demo version published on the January 27th, on the Steam platform, and that's what we base this little article on. In the game you control Takeshi Shi, a salaryman who is late for his routine job at a company. However, the way from your house to work can be quite arduous, with many obstacles and enemies on the loose. It's up to you to face them and still make it to your job on time.

Salaryman Shi is totally inspired by the famous Nintendo franchise, Super Mario, more precisely games like Super Mario Bros. 3 or New Super Mario Bros., as the progression is basically the same here. We have a classic platform game in the best sense of the word, where you jump on top of enemies, collect money and use skills taken from the boxes you jump into, such as a boomerang suitcase, which serves both to hit enemies and to reach higher locations. Apparently, the game will proceed as follows: 2 full stages and a boss stage, and so on, with the challenge level increasing with each stage.

In terms of graphics, Salaryman Shi presents a modern pixelated look that is very colorful and well done, but I believe it could be a little more elaborate, in my opinion. Whether this can happen or not, we can only wait for the full version of the game. In the meantime, you can check out the demo gameplay and, if you're interested, download it from the Steam platform.
