SEPHONIE: Explore a Mysterious Island full of Scientific and Spiritual Secrets in this Platform Game
Sephonie is an indie adventure platform game with puzzle elements being produced by Marina Kittaka and Melos Han-Tani of Analgesic Productions and will be published on the Steam platform sometime this year. In Sephonie, you follow the adventures of three biologists (Amy, Ing-wen and Riyou) on a mysterious island called Sephonie. The trio decides to investigate the mysteries surrounding this island, both scientific and spiritual, while being watched by a supernatural being that exists beyond human history.
In terms of graphics, Sephonie has a very cool visual style, kind of low-poly, with strong inspirations in PSX and especially N64 gaming styles (including, the presentation of the first boss in the demo clearly resembles the same in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time). Gameplay varies from platformer moments with a new feature: a link system, where you communicate with the island's fauna through a puzzle system. If you win the puzzle, the link is made and you connect with the fauna.
Now a point that could be considered here: you control the three biologists, but they all have the same skills, and that can be bad. It would be interesting if each one had specific skills, which would serve to continue in the game.
Remember that Sephonie is being produced by the same creators of both Anodyne games, so it is highly recommended for those who enjoy both games, as well as being recommended for those who like a good different platform game.
