PROJECT FOG: THE WOUNDED: Find a Way to Escape a Mysterious City in this Survival Horror Game.
Updated: Jul 6, 2021
Project Fog is a Survival Horror indie game produced by Solo Dev Interactive and with a demo version published on July 4th of this year, on the indie gaming platform "itch.io". The game was produced for SCREAMSONIC Jam over a one-week period and acts as a prologue, titled The Wounded. In this game, you control Cheryl, a girl who finds herself trapped in a mysterious city shrouded in dense fog. However, after being wounded by an attack by a strange monster, she is helped by a man named Norman, who gives her some supplies and a weapon. Now, it's up to Cheryl to unravel the mysteries surrounding the city and find a way to escape it.
Well, if you were suspicious of the name of the protagonist and the foggy city, it's no wonder: the game was clearly inspired by the first Silent Hill, which brought an innovation at the time, both in-camera aspects and in gameplay and plot. Project Fog appears to have done the homework well, as it has similar features to Konami's first survival horror, but at certain times it has something similar to the early Resident Evil as well. Another present difference is in the gameplay, which presents a layout focused on keyboard and mouse, but it is likely that in the future the main game will have support for controls.
The visual part is very well done and refers to the style inspired by PSX games. The soundtrack has more of an ambient, calm and sinister style at the same time. The game is very short and can be finished in about 15 to 25 minutes. Without a doubt, it is a project that has good potential to be not only a tribute to the horror franchise of Konami, but also can present some innovations that can greatly improve the game.
