THE FATHER: REBOOT: See a New Take on a Famous Cursed N64 Game Creepypasta in this Horror Game

The Father: Reboot is a first-person psychological horror indie game produced by D.Zenith and published on August 11 of this year, on the indie gaming platform "itch.io". The Father: Reboot was inspired by the well-known Creepypasta (a term given to internet urban legends) which tells the story of Ben Drowned and a cursed The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask cartridge. However, the entire plot here was created by Zenith himself and revolves around an unnamed character who, after hearing and reading about rumors of a "cursed" ROM of the game on the internet, decides to acquire the copy and open it in an emulator. The rumors start to make sense from the moment you enter the file selection screen and find a file saved there...

The Father: Reboot is a remake of the game of the same name, produced by the same author, which was published on September 6, 2020. However, unlike this version, which Zenith has admittedly produced as a way to learn about Godot Engine, the Reboot version presents a great evolution in terms of graphics, sound and gameplay. Starting with the graphical part, which simulates Clock Town and some locations with fidelity (this increases even a desire on my part to see Majora's Mask from this perspective). Despite having textures that look a bit like a PS1 game's style, there's no denying that Clock Town was very well produced here.

The songs and effects were taken directly from the Nintendo 64 game, but the songs have distortions, to give a sinister air and better represent the Creepypasta created by Jadusable. The gameplay is quite simple and here it consists of just moving with the WASD keys, using the mouse as a camera, Shift to accelerate, Space to jump, Tab to see the masks (which are four in total) and the E key to interact.

Without a doubt, this was one of the best productions I've ever seen on a creepypasta, even more of a Nintendo 64 game, in my opinion. Zenith presented an excellent evolution, showing a nostalgic, immersive and frightening environment at the same time.
