TSOS: Find a Way to Recover Your Memories in this Silent Hill-Inspired Game

TSOS is a third-person survival horror indie game that is being produced by KaPu and has a demo version published on September 1st of this year, on the indie gaming platform "itch.io". TSOS doesn't have an elaborate plot yet; only what we can get out of here in terms of plot is on the game page itself, which tells the story of Lily, a young woman who wakes up in an institution she has never seen or been to before. Also, she has amnesia, not knowing how she got there or her own past. From here, the goal is clear: to find a way to remember who she is and how she ended up at the institution.

The game was produced for the Summer of Shivers, a Game Jam hosted by the Haunted PS1 community. Right away we see that TSOS has a strong influence coming from the Silent Hill franchise, as many of its elements are found here: a similar camera style, a likely alternative dimension (seen in a part of the demo), the menu style and even the monsters that appear here. The textures are pretty much on the PS1 game level anyway, only slightly improved. The gameplay is simple here, just the way of aiming (Tab key) and the inventory key (I) cause a bit of annoyance in my opinion. They could have used the Mouse at least for the crosshairs, but until then we remember that this is a demo, until then this can be changed.

The soundtrack seeks to emulate the same sinister and surreal atmosphere we know so well in Silent Hill. And in fact the game dev managed to do a good job, but I believe it can do a little more work on this part. If I have to give a negative point, it would be for the transition moments (the doors). Over time this ends up being a real nuisance. I believe that there is no need to take so long between one area and another.

All in all TSOS manages to be an interesting proposition, heavily inspired by a survival horror classic and still has the potential for something much better. The game is currently under development. We hope they manage to work well until they finish it, bringing us a great survival horror game.
